“Hi Nicole! I have a question and I know you are the right person to ask based on your blog (love it!) I just cut my hair and it’s too short for a pony tail now. I love my new cut but what in the hell do I do with it during work outs? Do you have any non-slip headbands you like or other ideas? Help.”

Great question, Kristina! I was in the process of growing out my hair a bit (but I hated it) so I’m back to short again myself! I don’t use headbands anymore because my headphones end up pulling them off. Here are my tried and true short hair styles for your date at the gym.
#1 Man Bun
Okay so it’s not technically a man bun because I’m a woman. This one is super easy! Leave some hair down in the front and pull the top section up. Wrap your hair tie around two or three times making it slightly messy. The messier the better I say. If you get hot during workouts you can tuck the remaining hair behind your ears.
#2 Side Twist
Give yourself a deep part on whichever side you prefer. Section two pieces of hair and in a twisting motion grab from the front section and twist over the back section until you reach your ear. Because my hair is so short I secure with two bobby pins crossed over each other for extra security. Take the remaining hair and tie into two tiny piggy tails. (this will for sure make you like younger, haha!) If you hair is long enough you tie one piggy tail “nub” in the back.
#3 Side Braid – My Fav!
This one is a little trickier if you’re not used to braiding hair. Practice practice practice with Youtube videos. I was a stylist for 13 years and I’m still pretty sucky at braiding! Same as the ‘Side Twist’ you’re going to take a deep part and braid on one side of your head making sure to keep the braid nice and tight to your scalp while you angle back and above your ear. Trust me, if I can do this you can this, really! Secure braid with a tiny hair rubber band and pin. Grab the remaining hair and make your little piggy tails again. You’d be amazed at how many compliments I get on this gym look. If you get really good this one you can potentially go 2-3 days with the same braid, not that I’ve ever done that wink, wink. Can you say dry shampoo!
Last but not least when in doubt throw a hat on and call it good! Haha!
