Guess what? The day is finally here: I’ll officially be accepting private nutrition clients. There. I said it. Out-loud. Starting February 1st, I will be working with a limited number of clients. I’m also busy working on some exciting new additions to the blog that I know you’ll enjoy. More on that very soon!
Before I can tell you about the nutrition plans and what I can offer you, I think it’s important to know where I’ve been and more about the path that lead me to you.
“I used to see a butterfly in my mind’s eye every time I heard the word transformation, but life has schooled me. Transformation isn’t a butterfly. It’s the thing before you get to be a pretty bug flying away. It’s huddling in the dark cocoon and then pushing your way out. It’s the messy work of making sense of your fortunes and misfortunes, desires and doubts, hang-ups and sorrows, actions and accidents, mistakes and successes, so you can go on and become the person you must next become.”~ Cheryl Strayed
A year and a half ago, I conjured up a crazy idea to start a blog about my experience with food prepping. I could not have imagined at the time that I would ultimately have the guts to dive in head first into the nutrition & blogging industry. I had never subscribed to any blogs myself so how the hell did I expect to start one of my own? The little nagging voice in my head kept pushing me. “Who cares if you don’t know anything about blogging, you’ll learn as you go, don’t be scared just doooooo it!” I believed in myself, trusted my intuition, and surrounded myself with people that saw my vision and who also believed in me…probably more than I believed in myself. This was a leap of faith but I knew without a doubt if I didn’t at least give it a try, I would kick myself and always wonder What if?
Fast forward through building a website, photoshoots, video production and then…I have to start… gulp…WRITING? I was beyond intimidated when I had to start writing to PUBLISH. I am no writer, but little by little I fell in love with the process and now it’s become my favorite part on this new yellow brick road. Who knew?!
After having candid conversations with some of my followers, the feedback that I received was that I had a different approach to nutrition than many other people in the industry and that it was warmly welcomed. Those words of encouragement prompted me to go back to school to attain my Fitness Nutrition Certification.
As a hairstylist & salon owner for over 12 years, I had no reason to leave a stable and safe career where I could work a flexible, part time schedule and earn a great salary on my own terms. BUT I’ve learned over the past year and a half that our comfort zone is never a place of growth. Unfortunately I started seeing the writing on the wall with my neck and shoulder giving me major trouble and if I were more honest with myself, I would have admitted my heart was more often pulled in this new direction. I longed to be working on my blog and expanding my own personalized approach toward nutrition and lifestyle change.
I finally ripped the band aid off! Never in a million years would I have thought I’d be sitting here newly retired from the salon, blogging my heart out.
The cherry on top: I now have the pleasure of working with women one on one to help them through their own personal journey to find their best selves through nutrition and and self-love. It’s seriously a dream. Pinch me!
